"I have been running off and on since I was 19. Initially as training for motocross then from 26 because I just love to run and I still do! Mountain and off road running is my passion.

In June 2011 I completed the Wellington Marathon in a personal best time! Already looking forward to having another crack this year. Check out footage from the day on youtube, here.

Over the years I have had a few health issues, but I have always managed to get back to running. I enjoy a challenge and Nearly There certainly is that!"

"My first run was in May 2007, about half a kilometre long. At that time I was quite overweight and had a few habits that weren't very good for my health. A month later I could run 2 km without walking. Three months later I completed a half marathon event in slightly less than 3 hours.

In 2012 I'm working on becoming more efficent on my feet. The Wellington Marathon is my next event, looking forward to the challenge.

I am by no means a natural athlete. PE was dreaded at school (sorry, Mr Wood!) and athletics days were avoided. I am not a natural or gifted runner, it is something I am always working at. Chris has been a fantastic influence on my running, my lifestyle, and me. We run together two or three times a week. Long may that continue!"
